At NAOCA (North American Oversize Carriers Association) our mission is to represent professionals involved in the oversize carrier portion of the commercial transport industry. Our goal is to streamline and standardize regulations as much as possible within the abilities of infrastructure.
The volume of commercial transportation of oversize loads represents about 5% of the industry. This group overall represents the segment of the trucking industry that moves extremely valuable commodities which, without these specialized services, would severely set back the advancement of construction and special projects, and the movement of new equipment and machinery to destined markets slowing our economic progress and well being. The oversize carrier industry is burdened with a tremendous amount of regulations, most justified and some not.
NAOCA is seeking support and membership from all segments of the industry including commercial transport companies, employees and drivers, Government, affiliated players such as escort companies, providers of safety equipment, and last but not least the manufacturers and distributors of the commodities we transport.
NAOCA’s short term objectives are to inspire as many professionals as possible to take an interest in our organization and support it by becoming members. Our primary objective, as difficult as it will be, is to have North American jurisdictions stream line rules and regulations with safety and infrastructure protection at the forefront. NAOCA fully acknowledges this goal to be the most challenging portion of our objectives but we are confident that with support of this industry, from those that truly care and are committed professionals, we will be able to achieve our goals.
The NAOCA website long term plans are to develop and publish a database of oversized friendly, rest areas, motels, truck and fuel stops, and so on. This will greatly enhance and promote the relaxed movement of heavy and oversized commodities with readily available information for trip plans. Along with that we will be working towards developing a network with various jurisdictions to allow us to gain knowledge of the preplanning stage of highway improvements and new construction so that our oversize carrier’s needs are considered prior to implementation.
NAOCA is actively seeking interested professionals who wish to join the association at the executive level. The NAOCA Board’s goal is to have a diverse executive to represent the range of territory we cover.
